Why Did We Partner with World Vision?

  • A highly respected international organization with an impressive track record in West Africa
Having started in Ghana in 1990, they have a highly professional staff of water engineers with proven expertise for drilling wells.

  • 86% of your donation goes directly into drilling wells
(Only 14% goes to World Vision ’s administrative costs)

  • Educates villagers on proper hygiene and good sanitation
When well is drilled, latrines are installed as part of the project.
World Vision then continues to work with the villagers to convey the importance of using the latrines and how they need to protect the water to prevent its contamination.  This is a long, arduous process of changing intrenched behaviors among people who have had no education.

  • Kind, caring and respectful of villagers
They listen and try to fulfill other needs that go beyond water.

  • Empowers villagers to take ownership of the project
Even before a well is drilled, a committee is formed (including the women), to establish procedures for administering and maintaining the well.

  • Provides micro-financing and encouragement  to women to start small businesses
World Vision is especially supportive of women, knowing that they make the best micro-entrepreneurs. They teach them new skills, if needed, but typically women come together and plan how they can make money to help their families.

  • Committed, long-term
Any village we provide water for will be supported by World Vision for a minimum of 10 years.
